Ben Hallman is the founder and executive director of The Examination.
Since its launch in 2023, The Examination has partnered with dozens of newsrooms across the world to reveal who and what is responsible for health threats that claim tens of millions of lives annually. This work has prompted regulatory action, consumer-facing health warnings, factory closures and other measurable impact, and has been recognized for dozens of awards.
Ben was previously a senior editor at the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), deputy editor at The Trace and investigations editor at HuffPost.
An Alabama native, he now lives in the New York City suburbs. He used to have hobbies; now he has children.
