Kristen Lombardi

Kristen Lombardi is an investigative editor at The Examination, focused on corporate power and its consequences for public health. Over three decades, she has reported and edited accountability journalism examining how systems fail and who is responsible when they do.

Kristen has led and edited investigations into worker heat deaths, safety gaps in online dating platforms and other systemic harms affecting vulnerable communities. Her work has been recognized by Investigative Reporters and Editors, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the Society of Professional Journalists and others.

Before joining The Examination, Kristen led the postgraduate newsroom Columbia Journalism Investigations. She previously reported for the Center for Public Integrity, where her investigation into sexual assault on college campuses helped prompt federal legislation signed into law in 2013.

She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and an Ochberg Fellow at the Global Center for Journalism and Trauma.
