Raquel Rutledge is the investigations editor of The Examination.
Raquel led numerous award-winning, impactful investigations during her two decades at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, including the “Wires and Fires” series, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2022, and “The Landlord & the Tenant,” which won a 2023 National Magazine Award.
She’s previously investigated a wide range of health threats impacting coffee workers and e-cigarette users, barrel recycling plant workers and nearby residents, tainted alcohol wipes and more, and studied food regulation as a Neiman fellow. Her investigation into fraud in Wisconsin’s day care subsidy program won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting.
Raquel is married, has two sons and lives in Milwaukee with her husband and dog, Easy.
