Ana Vanessa Herrero
Reporter
Ana Vanessa Herrero is a reporter on the food team at The Examination. She joined the newsroom following six years at The Washington Post, where she was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist for her role in exposing the high-stakes scramble to deport Venezuelan migrants to a mega prison in El Salvador. Before working at the Post, she spent years as a New York Times reporter, documenting the onset of Venezuela’s historic economic and humanitarian meltdown.
Her career is defined by front-line reporting and a deep commitment to accountability. She has reported live under fire, forced institutions to answer for historic, systemic abuse, and gotten exclusive interviews that drove the conversation.
When she’s not trying to find her next story, you can find her on a tennis court, taking her hobby way too seriously.
