About The Examination’s data team

We are a small team of two people: Romina, the data editor based in Barcelona, and Fernanda, the data reporter based in Argentina.

Fernanda provides data analysis, reporting ideas and technical expertise to support our stories. Romina manages all the data editorial tasks, such as scoping out how the data team can aid an investigation, defining the key data statements and evaluating pitches to provide feedback and make sure that data components are viable. We work closely with the partnerships team, as some of our work supports our partner news outlets.

We have a collaborative mindset. We embrace open dialogue among the team, including external partners and contractors, to figure out what is best for each investigation, and we respect all views.

Pay

This is not an employment contract or position. The contract is for a maximum of 1,536 hours (approximately 4 days a week, depending on project needs) at $40 to $50 USD/hour, through Dec. 31, 2026.
